2025 Pinot Blanc Smaragd® Spitz

Spitz | Village Wine | Wachau DAC

The grapes for our Pinot Blanc thrive in the Gasslreith vineyard in Spitz, a southwest-facing vineyard site on the Hartberg hillside.

This small vineyard requires almost exclusively manual work. Its unique soil composition and favourable exposure provide ideal conditions for producing wines of exceptional quality.

Tasting Notes: Intense aromas of ripe pear and green walnuts, complemented by hints of lime, lemongrass and passion fruit.
Beautifully soft and harmonious on the palate, with delicate brioche notes and a well-balanced interplay of sweetness and acidity. An elegant, medium-bodied finish with subtle herbal and ethereal nuances.

Pinot Blanc is an exceptionally elegant grape variety with delicate fruit aromas and a long tradition in the Wachau. The grapes for our Smaragd are harvested from the Gasslreith vineyard, which connects the Steinporz and Setzberg vineyard sites. Steep terraces, poor soils of gneiss and slate, and cool breezes from the valley shape the character of this vineyard.
With half of the vineyard inaccessible to tractors, tending the vines is particularly demanding. But our passion for Pinot Blanc is greater than ever!

Selective hand harvesting. Gentle whole-cluster pressing and careful processing, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks using selected cultured yeast.

Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with white meats, particularly veal dishes. Also an excellent match for fish and vegetarian cuisine.

Serving Temperature: 12–14°C

Optimal drinking age: 2026–2038, with excellent ageing potential.
